Visit MacRostie

Winter in the Russian River Valley

The vines are dormant, the sunsets come early, the days stay cool and the crowds are mostly gone. It’s a great time to visit us in the Russian River Valley! Cozy up in a corner of the Estate House and enjoy the expansive views from our famous couch or an intimate table. Enjoy your flights with a more leisurely pace, guided by one of our knowledgable Ambassadors. We still encourage reservations, especially on weekends so we can have a table ready.

2014 Thale’s Vineyard Pinot Noir

Surrounding the MacRostie Estate House, our Thale’s Vineyard is located in the northernmost part of the Russian River Valley in an area known as the Middle Reach. Named after Steve MacRostie’s wife, Thale (pronounced Thay-lee), it features both valley floor and hillside contours. In 2014, it produced a deliciously elegant expression of Pinot Noir, with supple tannins, a soft entry and notes of orange peel, cranberry, Bing cherry and cinnamon spice.

2014 Goldrock Ridge Vineyard Pinot Noir – 94 Points

“…Moderate reddish purple color in the glass. Lovely aromas of fresh blackberry compote and spice. Exuberant mid weight plus flavors of black raspberry and boysenberry satisfy on the attack and mid palate. Highly flavorful, beautifully ripened fruit backed by crisp acidity and filigree tannins in an impeccably balanced wine that deserves high accolades, especially for the intensely fruited, ebullient finish.”
