As our sales, marketing, and brand director, Don Davis has been instrumental in the evolution of MacRostie since joining our team in the summer of 2014, when he guided the launch of the MacRostie Estate House. An e-commerce and marketing expert, and a seasoned wine and hospitality professional, Don is responsible for every aspect of the MacRostie experience, including our acclaimed hospitality program. As brand director, he also guides the overall vision for MacRostie, overseeing guest services, direct sales, digital and social media, public relations, and the MacRostie wine club. While Don’s role requires him to wear many hats, at its heart, he sees his job as creating memorable moments.
“When people choose to visit us, we consider that their vacation—even if it is just for a couple of hours. It’s their special, sacred time. When they arrive, we want time to stand still and the stress to just slip away. That’s the spirit of genuine hospitality, and it’s alive and well at MacRostie.”
For Don, creating memorable moments for guests is nothing new. Prior to joining MacRostie,
he was the owner of San Francisco’s BIN 38 wine bar and restaurant, which was voted one of the “Top 50 wine lists in the United States” by OpenTable. Don was also the founder of Uncorked Events, an acclaimed event planning company, and was the director of business development for Wine.com.
Surprisingly, Don started his career in the Bay Area tech industry after earning a master’s in integrated marketing communications from Northwestern University. While working in tech, Don explored his love of wine, both through regular tasting trips to wine country and by hosting wine-paired dinner parties for friends. “During those years, I really got turned on to the wonders of Sonoma County, and to the magic of its wines. Wine became my passion, and that led me to where I am today.”
Outside of MacRostie, Don’s life centers around his two amazing children, Hudson and Stella. He is also a rabid Northwestern football fan and has attended at least one game every year for the past quarter-century. He also still loves to throw a good party from time to time, of course, featuring MacRostie wines!
