Apple Cider Turkey Brine

Ingredients 

  • 2 Quarts Water
  • 2 Quarts Apple Cider
  • 1 Cup Kosher Salt
  • ½ Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 Bunch Thyme
  • 1 Bunch Sage
  • 12 Each Garlic Cloves, Smashed
  • 1 Each Medium Spanish Onion, Peeled and Rough Chopped
  • 3 Tbsp Black Peppercorns
  • 2 Each Oranges, Halved and Juiced
  • 1 Each 8 – 12 lb Turkey – Fully Thawed

Method

  1. Combine all ingredients except turkey in a large pot and bring to a boil.
  2. Remove From Heat and allow the brine to cool to room temperature.
  3. Place the turkey in a large tub. Pour cooled brine over the bird until it is completely submerged.
  4. Allow to sit in brine for 24 hours. 
  5. Remove the bird from the brine and pat dry with paper towels.
