“Best of Year 2023”
2021 MacRostie First Flight Nightwing Vineyard Petaluma Gap Pinot Noir – 95 Points: Superb; a great achievement
“Super well structured, with lip-smacking acidity and bright, ripe fruit flavors, this wine is a vibrant, palate-cleansing mouthful. Fragrant cinnamon and cloves are lifted by almost electric red cherries, sour cherries, and cranberries that light up the palate. The wine is so nervy and fresh despite a full body.”
2021 MacRostie River Road Ranch Russian River Valley Pinot Noir – 94 Points: Superb; a great achievement
“Soft, broad, and spicy, this full-bodied wine is luxurious in cinnamon, cloves, dark plums, and mulled black cherries, while velvety tannins shape the texture nicely. It’s smooth enough to drink with or without food, but there is no hurry. Best from 2025–2032.”
2021 MacRostie Kent Ritchie Vineyard Russian River Valley Chardonnay – 94 Points: Superb; a great achievement
“This friendly, sunny, and lightly buttered wine boasts plenty of green apples, golden apples, and a touch of grapefruit, all filling the mouth with juiciness. The tempting, buttery texture is balanced by underlying acidity for a fresh finish.”
2021 MacRostie Dutton Ranch Russian River Valley Chardonnay – 93 Points: Excellent; highly recommended
“Generous, appley, and fresh, this medium-bodied wine offers clean, appetizing fruit flavors, light dashes of butter and vanilla, and a smooth, rounded texture. It should please butter lovers as well as balance seekers.”
2021 MacRostie Wildcat Mountain Sonoma Coast Chardonnay – 92 Points: Excellent; highly recommended
“As inviting and buttery as a croissant, this soft and creamy wine is loaded with vanilla, fresh butter, and baked apple flavors on a broad, melted texture, with just a hint of acidity for balance. Pour during cocktail hour for your Chardonnay-loving friends.”
