“A bright floral fragrance of rose rises seamlessly on the nose of this wine, as a full-bodied concentration of black raspberry develops on the palate. Asian spice, forest floor and black tea underline its varietal power and exoticism.”

Tasting Notes

This Pinot Noir has an opulent ruby-red color that is immediately alluring. Aromas of potpourri and chocolate-covered cherries waft from the glass with a gentle swirl. The palate is soft and balanced with fine, lingering tannins and long-lasting richness on the finish.

Winemaking

The fruit was gently destemmed into open-top fermenters, using state-of-the-art equipment and procedures to avoid any pumping of the must. Inoculation with select yeast strains followed a three-day cold soak, and the caps were managed with a combination of pump-overs and punch-downs. The wine was put into French oak barrels, 30% of which were new oak. After 12 months of aging, the wine was bottled on October 31st, 2017.

Vintage

The 2016 vintage had favorable weather conditions that resulted in a good set and yielded a stunning Pinot Noir from Wohler Vineyard. The vineyard is planted to Dijon Clone 777, which delivers lively fruit and a dark, concentrated color. To ensure that the fruit was delivered to the winery cool, and in pristine condition, the grapes were harvested by hand the night of September 10th, 2016.
