Whether you’re driving the idyllic backroads of Sonoma County in search of memorable vistas and magical wines or looking for fun things to do in the charming town of Healdsburg, there may be no better time to visit wine country than spring. From radiant hillsides covered with golden mustard blooms to the beauty of bud break as the vineyards burst with new life, there is so much to love about this season.
With the arrival of April, we are also celebrating Earth Month here at MacRostie, and the intimate connection we have with our Thale’s Estate Vineyard in the Russian River Valley and Nightwing Vineyard in the Petaluma Gap, both of which have earned sustainable certification through the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance. At Thale’s Vineyard, which is right next to our stunning MacRostie Estate House, new shoots on the vines are forming the buds that will develop into grape clusters in the months ahead, signaling the start of a new vintage.
As we do each spring, we’ve just unveiled two wines that are perfect for the sun-filled, al fresco gatherings: our lush and delicious 2024 Sonoma Coast Rosé of Pinot Noir and our sleek and seductive 2024 Clockwise Sauvignon Blanc. Each year, the new vintages of these limited-production wines sell out quickly, which is why we have created a wine subscription that guarantees annual access to these refreshing spring releases.
And, of course, the arrival of spring also means unique wine events at our MacRostie Estate House, including our Sunset Series, where guests enjoy majestic golden-hour vineyard views, a delicious meal prepared by a pop-up chef, thoughtfully paired wines and music from acclaimed local musicians. For our Sunset Series event on April 19th, we’re featuring a delectable menu of Surf & Turf Po’boy sandwiches, chicken and andouille Jambalaya, and Creole mustard salad (with plenty of additional vegetarian options). For an interactive and immersive experience that underscores our deep connection to the land and the environment, join us on May 19th for our Spring Soiree. Along with spectacular wines, a delicious menu prepared by the Brunch Boys, and food and wine pairing stations, we’ll have sheep grazing in the vineyard, and guests can even have their photo taken with birds of prey from West Coast Falconry.
If you’re not already planning a spring visit to our Estate House, we encourage you to do so. It’s an amazing time to connect with the beauty of the natural world and the cycles that guide our world-class approach to winegrowing and winemaking. If you’re planning a weekend getaway, nearby Healdsburg offers great wine tastings, restaurants, hotels, and unique wine events for every pocketbook and palate. We hope to see you soon so that we can raise a glass together to celebrate the beauty and bounty of spring.
